3D casts are made by taking a mould of your baby's foot or hand using a premium non-toxic seaweed based impression powder (Alginate) you may be familiar with this product as it's what dentist use to take mould of teeth so it is very safe to use on even the most delicate skin.
It’s commonly used in the dental industry and allows the moulds to be taken rapidly, giving detailed casts. The impression powder only takes a couple of minutes to set and it doesn't matter if your child wriggles, or needs a feed, and they don't have to be asleep.
Casting sessions usually take between 30-60 minutes depending on how many casts are being taken. I then take the moulds away to create the life cast by using a high-quality premium plaster, and finish it as requested.

How long does it take?
An hour for each casting session, however sessions can be completed in a shorter period of time it depends on the individual and circumstances, I do not rush the process and time is allocated for feeds and changes. Large family pieces can take slightly longer.

Where is it done?
The casting session can either take place at my home studio in Cloone, Co Leitrin or I can come to your location at home, for hospital, hospice, Funeral Directors, Chapel of rest, vets etc please ensure that you have permission for a casting appointment. Written consent may be required (please ask as travel charges apply depending on distance).
What is the best age for Casting?
We can cast babies from a few days old, please be aware the older they get the more they tend to wriggle about in the mold so this may take several attempts! But it’s not impossible and we can capture the most amazing details from any age.

What choice of frames do you have?
When pricing we include a classic black or white frame, I have a wide variety of frames to choose from, in different colours and finishes, if you choose to upgrade there may be additional charges. I’ll talk you through the options and then bring along some samples to refine your final choice.

What colours can I choose from?
Our signature colours are Antique bronze, silver, or gold. However, if you wish to choose another colour of choice please be aware this may incur an addition cost.

Are you able to offer discounts?
I am able to offer discounts for groups of 4 or more people or if you have a large order. Unfortunately, for single frame requests I cannot offer discounts.

Memorial Castings
Losing a loved one can be an extremely difficult time. However, capturing a memory in a cast is still possible. I can work with family members and funeral directors or midwives, if you feel this would be easier than speaking to me directly. In some circumstance we will need permission to carry out a casting in a hospital, or hospice setting. Please enquire for further information.
